DEVELOPMENT OF POSTGRADUATE PROFESSIONAL MASTERS IN PSYCHIATRY
In 2009, AP Dr. Salmi Razali took on the challenge of becoming the first Postgraduate Coordinator in Psychiatry to create a new postgraduate program in psychiatry called Master in Medicine (Psychiatry), in response to the late Professor Dr. Khalid Yusuf, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, who advised the Faculty to improve its academic program through his initiatives known as the Boutique Master's program. She successfully constructed a curriculum that aligned with the Malaysian Conjoint Psychiatry training program, and in accordance with Malaysia Qualification Agency (MQA). Since the first student joined in 2011, UiTM has graduated over 20 psychiatrists who are now serving the nation.
REVISION OF NATIONAL POSTGRADUATE PSYCHIATRY TRAINING CURRICULUM
From 2016 until 2019, as a member of the Conjoint Psychiatry Committee, Public Universities in Malaysia, AP Dr Salmi were actively involved in revising the training curriculum for Malaysian Conjoint Psychiatry Program. On 27th August 2021, the curriculum which formally called National Postgraduate Masters Curriculum (Psychiatry) was launched together with other masters programs in Malaysia.
DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHIATRY, HOSPITAL AL-SULTAN ABDULLAH AS THE TRAINING CENTER FOR MASTERS IN PSYCHIATRY
As the Chair of the Conjoint Psychiatry Committee, Public Universities in Malaysia, in 2022, AP Dr Salmi has successfully introduced hybrid attachment program that allows UiTM doctors that undergo Postgraduate Masters in Psychiatry in Malaysia for the first time to do their clinical attachment at the Department of Psychiatry, Hospital Al-Sultan Abdullah, Puncak Alam. This approach not only enhance the academic activities for the students but also helps to solve the problem of shortage in medical officers that provide clinical services in psychiatry, HASA.

As the Head of the Department, Dr Salmi spearhead the development of the Department of Psychiatry, Hospital Al-Sultan Abdullah. This Mental Health Unit began offering services at Anjung Platinum, Al-Sultan Hospital Abdullah (HASA), UiTM Puncak Alam, on April 5, 2021. The Department of Psychiatry offers educational activities pertaining to psychiatry, psychology, and mental health in addition to the clinical services. Apart from acting as a hub for research and innovation, it also continues to develop into a career development center for psychology and psychiatry. HASA's mental health services align with both worldwide and national mental health service standards. It continues to transform into a clinical care facility that offered education in psychiatry, psychology, and mental health while offering the best treatment for mental illness.
STUDENTS & STAFF MENTAL HEALTH DEVELOPMENT
AP Dr Salmi is actively involved in preparing the module for mental health of UiTM students and staff. Her contribution include:
1. Module Health and Wellness @ Uni for university students which has been approved by UiTM Executive Council. The module was launched on 24 March 2023.
